Back Porch Compost Tumbler
Are you short on space and interested in composting? A compost tumbler can fit nicely on a back porch and product high quality compost from your kitchen and yard waste.
An enclosed compost tumbler is a good alternative if you don’t have the time and energy to manage a large compost pile. Some companies claim compost can be created in as little as 14 days. The heat generated in a tumbler is far higher than an open compost pile or compost bin. The regular movement combined with the heat helps the material breakdown even faster. While it is unlikely you will have superior compost in 14 days it is clear you will have composted material ready faster than a normal compost bin.
A couple turns on a regular basis will speed up the composting process. Turning a tumbler can be simple if the right design is selected. Some include a hand crank and other require you to move the whole bin. Either way, most are simple to move for all ages.
A tumbler may even enable you to compost year round in cooler temperatures. If you are in a warm area the increased heat can speed the process even more.
